In this quick tutorial I've taken a request from Ry on linkedin to produce a rectangular mass family where you can set the area, then use grips to change the length and width whilst still maintaining the required area.

This allows you to change the length with grips, but what happens if you want to change the width with grips?
I thought I had mentioned this already, but they may have been on LinkedIn.
Yes you are quite right you must flex the length grips, if you use the width grips then it won't automatically adjust the length. This is a Revit bug and I have filed it with Autodesk.
